You also need to wash the item with mild detergent and, after doing this, avoid getting too many fingerprints on it before painting. However, this may not be possible for all items you will spray. I sanded down the plastic box I painted using progressively finer grits of superfine sandpaper (down to 8000 grit), which helped a lot. The can states that with new plastics you should wipe them down with paint thinner, although I have not tested this. What other reviewers seem not to have realised is that the item you are painting must be as clean as possible.
This spray paint is specially formulated to adhere well to plastic, however it does require you to read the instructions properly.
